*Important note for Mac Users: The version of Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and Mac OSX 10.7 (Lion) and Safari automatically run in 64-bit mode if the processor is 64. To avoid issues, including freezing, make sure Safari is running in 32-bit mode. For directions on how to make this change, read this article.
For the best possible online experience, we strongly recommend that IE 7 users upgrade their browser to IE 8 or IE 9.0. We strongly recommend that all Mac users upgrade their Operating System to OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and all Mac Safari 4.0 users upgrade to Safari 5.0. If upgrading is not possible, you can continue to enjoy access to your Pegasus-powered MyLabs, but you may encounter some known issues.
To check your operating system:
- Turn on your computer and look for information on your operating system as the computer boots up.
- You can also find this information in your computer settings. For example, if you have a PC you can look at "View System Information" in "My Computer," which is accessible from the "Start" menu. From a Mac, choose “About this Mac” under the Apple menu.
If you are unsure of the browser version you are using, launch the browser and select Help from the menu bar. Next, select About Browser (the browser name and the exact wording of the selection will vary) and a window will open with your browser name and version.
Java Update Required
There are several tools in MyLanguageLabs that require Java to run properly. Java (Oracle) recently released an update to Java 6 (update 12/39) and Java 7 (update 13) to address some security concerns. As a result, Java should be updated on your computer, lab computers and on students' personal computers. Each operating system handles Java differently, so it is important that you and your students’ refer to our detailed help article and follow the upgrade instructions that match your operating system.
Internet Connection Speed

Browser Tune-Up
The Browser Tune-Up utility will tell you whether or not media players and plug-in programs are present on your computer and, when they are present, whether they are up to date.
- Click this Browser Tune-Up link to open and work with the Browser Tune-Up.
- In the list of plug-in programs in the center of the Browser Tune-up window, a green check will appear for plug-ins that are currently installed.
- For a plug-in that you need but which is not installed, you will see a red x. Click the name of the plug-in to download the latest version. In some cases, you may need to register for the player or plug-in, and you may need to restart your computer when you finish the download and installation.
- When you finish installing the players or plug-ins your website requires, close the Browser Tune-Up, restart your browser, then return to www.mylanguagelabs.com.
- Note: To view the Pearson eText, you will need Flash version 11.2 or higher.
